About the Faculty
Presenting the faculty, its facilities and a word from the Dean.
About the faculty
The Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences Aïn Chock opened its doors on 27 October 1981. It was the first faculty of letters in Casablanca and the third institution of Hassan II University.
Over four decades, the faculty has become a benchmark in Moroccan higher education, thanks to the breadth of its disciplines: Islamic and Arabic studies, foreign languages and literatures, history, geography, sociology, psychology, and Amazigh and Chinese studies.
The faculty anticipates society’s transformations by continuously adapting its programs to technological advances and contemporary challenges. It offers varied teaching modes — on campus, online and work-study — alongside active engagement with civil society and projects with real community impact.
Students also enjoy free access to digital platforms for language learning and transferable skills, and to a rich collection of digital resources through the Digital Workspace (ENT).
Word from the Dean
Prof. Abdelilah Braksa
Dean of the Faculty — Hassan II University of Casablanca
It is with immense pride that we pursue our commitment to excellence in higher education, rich in challenges and opportunities. From its earliest days, our institution has pursued constant improvement, consolidating its position as a key player in teaching and research. We remain firmly committed to the pursuit of academic and scientific excellence.
Founded in 1981, the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences Aïn Chock has become a benchmark in the Moroccan higher education landscape. Year after year, growing interest in our academic offering translates into a large influx of applications — testimony to the quality and relevance of our programs. We offer a wide range of bachelor and master tracks, carefully designed to meet society’s expectations while staying in tune with our students’ personal aspirations.
Our faculty also works to anticipate society’s transformations by developing emerging skills. Through continuous adaptation of our programs to technological advances and contemporary challenges, we offer varied teaching modes: on campus, online and work-study. This dynamism goes hand in hand with active engagement in civil society, enabling our students to contribute to projects with real community impact and strengthening their role in building an inclusive, innovative society.
We are proud to give our students free access to digital platforms for language learning and transferable skills, as well as an extensive collection of digital resources via the Digital Workspace (ENT). These modern tools prepare them for the demands of an ever-changing world.
The faculty also stands out through its tracks of excellence, embodying our commitment to pedagogical innovation and advanced research. These programs provide a stimulating setting for new ideas to emerge and for skills matched to today’s challenges.
Our institutional partnerships — national and international, academic and socio-professional — strengthen our standing and open unique prospects for fruitful exchanges and collaborations for our students.
The faculty is distinguished not only by the quality of its programs but also by its scientific research dynamism. The institution excels in scholarly output, particularly in the humanities and social sciences, with a marked orientation toward applied research. Every year numerous theses are defended, showcasing work that addresses concrete issues of Moroccan society. Conferences, articles in indexed journals and reference monographs all contribute to the faculty’s reach and to the development of the human and social sciences in Morocco.
Finally, we give a central place to artistic, cultural and sports activities that enrich student life. From theatre to music, from football to athletics, our students enjoy an environment conducive to their creative, intellectual and physical fulfilment.
This collective success also rests on the unwavering commitment of our teaching and administrative staff, whose active contribution is essential to achieving our ambitions. The success of our institution is a shared responsibility. Together, with a common vision and determined mobilization, we will keep building a promising future.
Thank you all for your commitment and dedication. Onward to new successes and achievements!
